The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship delivered thrill-a-minute entertainment north of the border this past weekend (August 8-9) as Adam Morgan, Ash Sutton and Tom Chilton each scored victory at Knockhill.

Two weeks on from a full-throttle visit to Thruxton in Hampshire, the UK’s premier motorsport series made its annual trip to Scotland for the sixth meeting of the current campaign – where it more than delivered as it served up a trio of action-packed contests.

Cataclean Plato Racing’s Morgan proved to be the driver to beat on Saturday as he reigned supreme in a frenetic Qualifying Race to secure a second career pole position – and his first in the series since 2018.

Starting the 20-lap contest from the front of the field, the Mercedes-AMG A35 Saloon driver controlled proceedings out front to take a dominant lights-to-flag victory while home hero Gordon Shedden and team-mate Dan Rowbottom completed the top three.

Morgan would go on to repeat his heroics in Sunday’s opening encounter as he handled very wet conditions and a late race safety car to clinch a historic maiden win for the series’ newest team, Cataclean Plato Racing.

The Lancashire driver converted his front row start into a lead that he never looked like losing while behind, Rowbottom got the better of three-time champion Shedden early on to make it a Mercedes 1-2.

Shedden would round out the podium in third however the Scotsman was put under immense pressure in the latter stages as championship contenders Sutton and Tom Ingram both surged up the order to finish fourth and fifth.

NAPA Racing UK’s Sutton was then the driver to beat in a dry second race as he clinched his seventh win of the season and with it, extended his lead at the top of the standings.

On the soft tyre, the four-time champion made light work of Shedden, Morgan and Rowbottom in the opening exchanges and then with a clear ahead of him, he cruised to a comfortable victory. Behind him, Rowbottom and Collard filled the remaining spots on the podium.

The weekend’s third and final race on Scottish soil then saw the experienced Tom Chilton claim his first win of the season as he trounced the opposition – led by Morgan and Dan Cammish – in his Team Vertu Hyundai.

Heading back down South, Sutton still remains in control at the head of the Drivers’ Championship with his advantage over Ingram now sitting at 81 points. Meanwhile, the trio of Cammish, Collard and Charles Rainford complete the top five.

As they have done since the very start of the season, Sutton’s Alliance Racing/Ford and NAPA Racing UK squad top both the Manufacturers’/Constructors’ and Teams’ tables. Mikey Doble and LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing do the same in the Independents’ Trophy.

Finally, the Jack Sears Trophy has seen Dexter Patterson return to the standings summit after he enjoyed a sublime race day on home turf.
