The Michelin Clio Cup Series is an ideal step on the racing ladder within the UK, offering aspiring saloon car racers the opportunity to get behind the wheel of proven machinery at an affordable price.
Run by the British Automobile Racing Club and promoted by leading Renault UK Clio Cup outfit Westbourne Motorsport, the Clio Cup Series was launched in 2013 and has continued to grow in stature ever since.
Devised into three classes, the Race Series is pitted as the pinnacle of the championship with third generation RS Clio 200s taking centre stage, having once shined on the TOCA support package in the Renault UK Clio Cup. In 2020 these will be joined by the fourth generation RS Clio 220.
In the Road Series, for competitors on a tighter budget, a road-going version of the third generation Clio Sport car can be used.
The third and final class to make up the Michelin Clio Cup Series is the new-for-2019 Sports Series, which will allow the use of Renault Sport-built race cars or modified road-based Clio 182, 197, 200 or 220 models with a maximum of 220bhp in a bid to pit independent engineering against factory-built machines.
Together, the three-class structure offers competitors from a diverse range of backgrounds the opportunity to benefit from one of the most instructive, cost-effective and race-proven packages on the UK club racing scene.
