Edge-of-the-seat entertainment was delivered in spades at Knockhill this past weekend (August 8-9) courtesy of the Porsche Carwow Sprint Challenge Great Britain, Power Maxed MINI CHALLENGE JCW and Motul Caterham Seven Championship UK.

Making the annual trip north of the border along with the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, a capacity crowd poured through the gates of the 1.27-mile circuit to be treated to some thrilling racing.

Having not raced since May, the Porsche Carwow Sprint Challenge Great Britain made a welcome return to the track and it saw a new face come to the fore as Team Parker Racing’s Joshua Rogers won all three races.

Prior to heading to Scotland, Joe Marshall had been the driver to beat, with the talented race boasting a winning streak that stretched back to the end of last term. In what was somewhat of a surprise to many, that came to an abrupt end at the Fife track.

Australian native Rogers hit the ground running to snare pole position and was then perfection personified in the races as he charged to victory in all three bouts. Behind him, Marshall and Matthew Kyle-Henney followed him home on each occasion in second and third.

The Power Maxed MINI CHALLENGE saw three new winners triumph in the JCW Class. Harry Hictkon was the first to notch a maiden win as he claimed a dominant lights-to-flag victory in challenging conditions on Saturday afternoon.

Race two on Sunday then saw Jamsport Racing’s Archie Johnson become the latest driver to enter the coveted winners’ circle after he inherited the win following a post-race penalty for on the road winner Harry Campey.

Pro Alloys Racing’s Alex Solley was the last to savour the taste of victory as he triumphed in race three. Hickton had controlled proceedings during the contest but a five-second time penalty for a false start relegated him to third as the chequered flag fell, in-turn promoting Solley up to first.

The Motul Caterham Seven Championship UK made a popular return to the BTCC support bill at Knockhill and it proved to be a weekend to remember for reigning champion Matt Armstrong as he maintained his pursuit of clinching back-to-back crowns.

Arriving at Knockhill knowing he needed to make inroads into leader Taylor O’Flanagan, Armstrong underlined his credentials as the current title holder by charging to victory in all three races.

The weekend also saw countless appearances from the Scottish Legends Championship, which yielded victories for the likes of Ryan McLeish, Michael Weddell, Ross Marshall, Ben Mason, Angus Scrivener and Matthew Pape.

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and associated TOCA support categories continue their campaigns in less than two weeks’ time, as they return to Donington Park to tackle the Grand Prix layout on August 22-23.
