Tickets on sale for prestigious BARC Championship Awards Evening in February

Champions, marshals and officials are set to be honoured at the British Automobile Racing Club’s annual Championship Awards Evening on Saturday 8th February 2020, with the Chesford Grange Hotel in Kenilworth confirmed to once again host the prestigious event.

Celebrating the 2019 season in fine style, race suits and overalls will be swapped for black ties and ball gowns as the great and good of UK motorsport come together for what should be another unforgettable night.

Whilst those who emerged victorious from their respective categories over the course of the season will take centre stage, several other ‘secret’ awards will be handed out during the evening as well – adding further excitement to the spectacle.

Hosted by Alan Hyde, the star-studded evening is set to include a three-course dinner and raffle in addition to the customary trophy presentation. Entertainment will come in the shape of popular cover band ‘The Torn Off Strips’.

BARC championships produce action-packed show at Croft

Croft Circuit played host to a memorable British Automobile Racing Club event this past weekend (September 21/22) as six categories continued their campaigns in action-packed style.

With the 2019 motorsport campaign having approached the business end of the season, the journey to North Yorkshire proved to be a pivotal one as the battle for title supremacy only intensified around the challenging 2.12-mile circuit.

The title pendulum continued to swing back and forth in the Pickup Truck Racing Championship as three enthralling races played out. Reece Jones underlined his credentials as one to watch as he powered his way to an emphatic pair of race wins.

Jones was unable to complete his hat-trick however as George Turiccki scaled the top step of the podium in the third and final race of the weekend.

Chris Brockenhurst produced a double-winning performance of his own in the BARC Super Silhouette Championship, edging out series leader Malcolm Blackman on both occasions.

Blackman, who has won a majority of the year’s races, found himself off the top step of the podium all weekend in the end as Danny Hunt recorded a memorable victory to also triumph.

Callum Grant made his mark in the Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship as he tallied a pair of wins whilst Ronan Pearson did the same in the Michelin Clio Cup Series to set up a title showdown against Simon Freeman next month.

In the BARC Clubmans Sports Prototype Championship in association with King Henry’s Taverns, Daniel Gibson notched a pair of race wins and narrowly missed out on making it a hat-trick, missing out to Peter Richings by juts half a second in the finale.

Rounding out the weekend’s action from Croft was a three-hour encounter from the Distrigo Parts Distribution Citroen C1 Racing Series; where the Amigo Motorsport duo of Matthew Dawson and Rhys Lloyd reigned supreme.

BARC championships head north for Croft crescendo

The British Automobile Racing Club travels to Croft Circuit this weekend (September 21/22) for another blockbuster race meeting which includes no less six different championships.

On what should be a record-breaking weekend at the home of UK motorsport in the north-east following the venue’s recent resurfacing, a bumper crowd is set to witness an unforgettable two days of racing.

The battle for supremacy in the Pickup Truck Racing Championship is set to reach fever-pitch at Croft this weekend with two more races writing the latest chapter of what has been a captivating 2019 title tussle so far.

Bringing a flavour of America to British shores, the championship has been as competitive as ever this year with George Turiccki, Reece Jones, Michael Smith, Mark Willis, Dale Gent, David O’Regan and Paul Tompkins having all tasted success at some stage this year.

Those drivers mentioned are in the thick of the title tussle too and anyone of them could make their mark in North Yorkshire, in-doing so taking a step close to clinching the coveted crown at Brands Hatch in November.

One category that is guaranteed to have fans on the edge-of-their-seats this weekend will be the BARC Super Silhouette Championship, which has scaled new heights this year under the watchful eye of Sonny Howard.

Malcolm Blackman finds himself on the cusp of being crowned champion after producing what has been nothing short of a mesmerising run of results. An impressive 12 wins from 15 races sits him at the summit of the standings and on course to triumph, however nothing is set in stone and the likes of Chris Brockenhurst and Steve Burrows will be in the mix too.

The BARC Clubmans Sports Prototype Championship in association with King Henry’s Taverns arrives at Croft at a critical junction in its 2019 season, with the battle for title supremacy in full swing across all three classes; CSP1, CSP2 and CSP3.

Notable names to look out for over the course of the weekend include Clive Wood, Peter Richings, Morris Hart and Steve Dickens, to name but a few.

Tin top thrills from the Michelin Clio Cup Series will be provided too as three more races will undoubtedly edge proceedings closer its own the season finale. Billed as being an ideal step on the racing ladder for aspiring saloon car drivers to get on track for an affordable price, the one-make series has taken centre stage everywhere it has raced this year so far with its three classes.

In the Race Class, which is home to the third generation RS Clio 200, a straight title fight between Simon Freeman and Ronan Pearson looks set to continue with the latter aiming to overturn a 12-point deficit.

James Colburn and Nic Harrison meanwhile will look to cement their statuses as the drivers to beat in the Sport and Road categories respectively.

For fans of nostalgic single seater racing, the Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship is not to be missed. Events at Silverstone, Castle Combe, Donington Park, Thruxton and Snetterton has seen the Class A lead between Rick Morris and Tim Harvey go back-and-forth – and it could well continue.

The pair have been virtually inseparable this year so far and have each stood on the top step of the podium on a handful of occasions as well. With the destiny of the title likely to boil down to between the duo, all bets are set to be off.

Kevin Mansell, Mark Armstrong, Stuart Kestenbaum and Steve Pearce, among many others,  aren’t to be discounted either as they bid to make their mark too.

Capping off the weekend’s action will be a three-hour encounter from the Distrigo Parts Distribution Citroen C1 Racing Series. Having starred at the venue back in March, the much-loved one-make category returns for another action-packed 180-minute race which includes another ultra-competitive entry list.

Snetterton plays host to memorable BARC summer spectacle

Snetterton played host to an action-packed two days of British Automobile Racing Club entertainment this past weekend (August 10/11) as several championships descended on the Norfolk venue for a spectacular summer showcase.

Boasting a bumper bill of track action, the Club’s second consecutive weekend at the East Anglia track proved to be full of the typical thrills and spills that fans have become accustomed to – with several drivers and team producing dominant displays.

The Team ABBA Racing duo of Richard Neary and Sam Neary were one of those to exert their dominance over the course of the weekend as they reigned supreme in the Dunlop Endurance Championship.

Sharing the driving duties of their Mercedes AMG GT GT3, the pair proved to be in a league of their own around the 2.97-mile layout as they scored victory in both one-hour encounters.

Those in attendance were treated to further endurance antics from the Distrigo Parts Distribution Citroen C1 Series on Sunday as the popular one-make category staged its latest three-hour race, with a staggering 52-car entry list.

Following a total of 60 laps being completed, McAttack Racing’s Simon Walker-Hansell, Joe Wiggin and Declan McDonnell tallied another stellar victory – albeit by less than a second from their nearest rivals.

Paul Roddison reestablished himself as the man to beat in the Max5 Racing Championship, scoring a brace of race wins. After seeing his winning streak ended at the previous event, Roddison bounced back in style to dominate proceedings in both encounters.

Rick Morris was another driver to enjoy a near-perfect weekend around the challenging 2.97-mile circuit as he triumphed in the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship; wrestling back control of the title fight from Tim Harvey.

Spoils were shared between Ronan Pearson and James Colburn in the Michelin Clio Cup Series whilst the Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Club Championship saw victory fall the way of Steve McDermid.

Capping of the weekend’s action were a trio of races from the new-for-2019 UK Sports Prototype Cup, which saw Rob Wheldon and Jon Macrae power their way to the top step of the podium.

BARC heads back to Snetterton for action-packed club weekend

The British Automobile Racing Club descends on Snetterton this weekend (August 10/11) for the second of three consecutive events in East Anglia – with seven championships all revved up to take centre stage.

Following on from last weekend’s Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship meeting and ahead of next weekend’s 2CV Racing season finale, the Norfolk venue will play host to what is set to be an action-packed two days of racing.

Topping the bill on Saturday will be two one-hour encounters from the Dunlop Endurance Championship, which is reaching the business end of the 2019 campaign. Showcasing some of the most jaw-dropping cars to compete in the UK, a bumper grid will hit the track for the latest chapter of another

Ferrari 488 Challenge duo Paul Bailey and Andy Schulz lead the way heading into the sixth meeting of the year but nothing is guaranteed – with a long line of contenders all hot on their heels and ready to pounce.

Single seater thrills and spills will come in the shape of the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship around the 2.97-mile layout as Tim Harvey and Rick Morris renew their duel at the standings summit.

Just a single point separates the pair heading into the weekend and both will be eager to open up and advantage over the other. Elsewhere; Mike Gardner, Stuart Kestenbaum and Mark Armstrong are just three of several drivers all aiming to put themselves into the win bracket.

The battle for supremacy in the Max5 Racing Championship is set to further intensify too, with Paul Roddison aiming to get back to winning ways. after seeing his unbeaten streak come to an end at Mallory Park courtesy of Ian Loversidge.

Setting his sights on a return to the top step of the podium, Roddison will be a hard challenge to beat however the likes of Jeremy Shipley, Andrew Pretorius, Chris Clarke and Ben Thompson are likely to be in the mix across the weekend’s two races too.

Fans of tin top racing will be well-catered for too over the course of the weekend with no less than three championships set to get those in attendance on the edge of their seats. Retro entertainment will come in the shape of the Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Club Championship whilst the Michelin Clio Cup Series is one not to be missed as an ultra-competitive grid of hat hatches goes wheel-to-wheel.

Arguably one of the highlights on Sunday will be the latest instalment of the Distrigo Parts Distribution Citroen C1 Series. Enjoying what is a history-making year for the one-make category, another ultra-competitive line-up gets ready to battle for race honours with a three-hour encounter bringing the curtain down on the weekend.

Front-running teams that have entered to keep a watchful eye on include Amigo Motorsport, McAttack Racing, Diablo Racing and Spy Motorsport – to name but a few.

Rounding out the weekend’s action at Snetterton will be the latest rounds of the new-for-2019 UK Sports Prototype Cup. Growing in stature as each month passes, the category – which caters for both Revolution Race Cars and Radicals – has garnered rave reviews already.

Thruxton serves up scorching weekend of BARC championship action

The British Automobile Racing Club served up a scorching two days of racing around the fastest circuit in the UK, Thruxton, this past weekend (June 29/30) as a host of championships took centre stage in Hampshire.

Basking in the searing sun, spectators that lined the bankings across both days were treated to a feast of entertainment as temperatures continued to rise both on and off the track.

Headlining the weekend were no less than seven races from the MV Commercial BTRA Championship, all of which delivered exhilarating thrills and spills.

Division 1 of the heavyweight behemoths saw Ryan Smith serve up a perfect performance as he clinched pole position and then all four race wins. David Jenkins was to be Smith’s closest challenger but the former champion could do nothing to stop the MAN driver.

Luke Garrett came close to doing the same in Division 2 as he secured a hat-trick of race wins around the high-speed venue. Clinching pole position, Garrett won the opener and then a further two races on Sunday, with Steve Powell the only driver able to knock him off the top step of the podium.

Having thrown up plenty of unpredictability leading into the event, the Pickup Truck Racing Championship continued to deliver a nail-biting battle towards the sharp end of the grid – with Mark Willis and Michael Smith sharing the spoils.

The Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship produced a spectacular pair of races, rolling back the years in emphatic style. Tim Harvey enjoyed a near perfect weekend around the ultra-fast venue to take the lead in the overall standings.

Triumphing in the opening encounter, the former BTCC champion narrowly missed out on a second win by 0.187 as Rick Morris bounced back from a frustrating race one to round out the weekend on the top step of the podium.

There was plenty of drama in the Mighty Minis Championship as those in attendance were treated to a raft of slipstreaming thrills and spills. Just 0.024 separated Stuart Coombs and Greg Jenkins in race one, with Coombs getting the better of his rival to score a hard-earned win.

Jenkins would strike back in the second race of the weekend as he fended off a swarm of challengers to narrowly pip Neven Kirkpatrick to the chequered flag.

Elsewhere, the BARC Clubmans Sports Prototype Championship in association with King Henry’s Taverns provided plenty of entertainment with Clive Wood in dominant mood as he swept his way to a hard-earned hat-trick of wins.

In the Kumho BMW Championship, Garrie Whittaker continued his winning streak with a dominant performance, extending his unbeaten run in 2019 as well. Arriving as the man to beat in the single manufacturer category, the E36 M3 driver exerted his status as the man to beat by scoring wins in both races by more than 30 seconds.

Rounding out the weekend’s action at Thruxton was a pair of races from the Carbon8 Hyundai Coupe Cup. Wayne Rockett recorded his fifth win on the bounce in the opener but saw his winning streak come an end later in the day as Nick Moore struck to notch his first win of the year.

Thruxton revved up for blockbuster BARC race weekend

The home of the British Automobile Racing Club, Thruxton Circuit, will play host to a blockbuster two days of track action this weekend (June 29/30) as the MV Commercial BTRA Championship descends on Hampshire with a bumper supporting cast.

In what is one of the highlights of the season for the fastest track in the UK, a total of seven championships will go wheel-to-wheel around the much-loved venue as they each write the latest chapter in their 2019 campaigns.

Headlining the weekend’s action will be no less than seven races from the MV Commercial BTRA Championship. Weighing in at more than five tonnes and producing in excess of 1000bhp, the heavyweight behemoths have delivered all-out action so far this year, and it’s only set to continue.

Division 1 currently sees three-time champion Ryan Smith in control of the points after making a flying start to the year. Aiming to become a four-time title winner, Smith has a wave of momentum behind him however fierce rival David Jenkins will be keen to halt his progress and close the gap.

Luke Garrett meanwhile has taken on the role of defending champion in Division 2 with relative ease, leading the way in the points after two events. Notching four wins so far, Garrett will be one to watch as he bids to extend his advantage over the chasing pack – made up of Paul Rivett, Steve Powell, Brad Smith and more.

Whilst Division 1 and Division 2 will compete in three races each, the fourth and final encounter will see both grids combine – bringing the curtain down on the weekend in sensational style.

The Pickup Truck Racing Championship has kicked off the year in ultra-competitive fashion with six different winners from the first seven races. George Turiccki leads the pack into the weekend’s two races however staying there may prove difficult, with the competition being as fierce as it is.

Dale Gent, David O’Regan, Reece Jones, Paul Tompkins and Michael Smith are the other victors so far and any one of them could top the podium over the course of the two days.

Slipstreaming will be on full display in the Mighty Minis Championship as a bumper entry list of the iconic car duke it out for supremacy. Renowned for producing edge-of-the-seat thrills, both the Mighty Mini and Super Mighty Mini classes will be in attendance for a pair of thrilling races.

Notable names to keep an eye on over the course of the event include Alex Comis, Owen Edgley and Neven Kirkpatrick, amongst many more.

Speaking of cars from a bygone era, fans of single seaters will be well catered for in the shape of the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship. Rick Morris and Tim Harvey have emerged as the form men early on, the pair separated by just a point, however a whole host of contenders could come to the fore and challenge their status. 

Open-wheeled action will also be served up in the shape of the BARC Clubmans Sports Prototype Championship in association with King Henry’s Taverns. Unique in every manner, the championship has packed grid and delivers non-stop entertainment, with the likes of Peter Richings, Barry Webb and Pippa Tanner-Wood just some of the stars of the show.

Tin top thrills will come in the shape of the Kumho BMW Championship, where Garrie Whittaker will be aiming to extend his winning streak. Showcasing some of the most awe-inspiring models from the Bavarian brand, the Kumho BMW contingent have become a haven for doorhandle-to-doorhandle thrills and spills, with Thruxton set to be no different.

Rounding out the weekend’s action will be a pair of races from the Carbon8 Hyundai Coupe Cup. Continuing to grow in stature as each year passes, the Coupe Cup contingent have raised the bar each year and the 2019 crop of racers are in demand by fans.

Wayne Rockett has won every race run so far and you’d not bet against him from being amongst the front-runners, alongside Alex Cursley and Nick Moore, either.

BARC serves up six-tastic Silverstone spectacle

The home of British motorsport, Silverstone, played host to a memorable two days of British Automobile Racing Club action this past weekend (March 30/31) as six more championships launched their 2019 campaigns.

In what is a traditional fixture on the Club’s early-season calendar, the International configuration of the Northamptonshire venue once again showcased a raft of wheel-to-wheel battles across all categories.

Headlining Saturday’s action was a pair of races from the Dunlop Endurance Championship, which boasted a record 36-car entry list. With a pair of one-hour encounters setting pulses racing, Tim Gray proved to be the man to beat in race one at the wheel of his VR Motorsport Praga R1T.

Gray took on the Lamborghini pairing of John Seale and Marcus Clutton, prevailing to narrowly take the chequered flag by little under two seconds. Seale and Clutton ensured they savoured victory too by dominating race two, lapping the entire field in their striking Huracan.

The Michelin Clio Cup Series saw the spoils shared as Luke Pinder and Simon Freeman took a win apiece. The pair were inseparable for a majority of the weekend as they vied for top spot in the Race Class with Ronan Pearson and Paul Bell rounding off the podium in each race respectively.

James Colburn bagged a brace of victories in the new-for-2019 Sport Class, whilst double Road Class champion Nic Harrison also enjoyed a double-winning performance as well.

Having reigned supreme in the 2CV Parts.com Classic Racing Championship last year, Pete Sparrow began the defence of his title in fine style as he romped his way to a pair of victories – setting his stall out as the man to beat once more.

Rick Morris also enjoyed a stellar weekend as he too scored a pair of wins, this time in the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship. Heading what was a stellar entry list of experienced single seater racers, Morris was a tour-de-force in the opening encounter to fend off Mark Armstrong and John Village.

In race two, Morris then prevailed from a nail-biting 17-lap affair ahead of 1992 BTCC champion Tim Harvey – who was making a popular return to the series – whilst Armstrong picked up another rostrum finish.

Spoils were shared in the Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Club Championship races as William Sharpe and Steve Darbey won overall. Never short of entertainment, the multi-class series is home to some of the most iconic machines from the MG brand however it was to be the MG ZR that reigned supreme – a car that Sharpe and Darbey both piloted.

Capping off the weekend’s action in Northamptonshire was a raft of races from the Caterham Graduates Championship. Another category which has forged a name for itself in recent years, amalgamated grids ensured there was plenty of action throughout each class.

The combined Mega/Classic/135/125 races came down to Luke Tzourou and Kevin Barrett, with the pair nip-and-tuck with each other and ultimately taking a win apiece. Elsewhere Samuel Wilson emerged as the man to beat in the Sigmax and 150 races as he romped to a brace of wins ahead of Jamie Ellwood.

Silverstone beckons for six action-packed BARC championships

Silverstone awaits the arrival of the British Automobile Racing Club this weekend (March 30/31) with six championships kicking off their 2019 campaigns.

As the new season begins to gather momentum, the BARC descends on the home of British motorsport once more to tackle the International layout, with enthralling entertainment expected to keep fans on the edge of their seats throughout both days.

Topping the bill for the weekend is the Dunlop Endurance Championship which has attracted a record entry for the second year running. Boasting a grid of 36 jaw-dropping machines, Britcar is enjoying a period of rude health and that is only set to continue with tweaks having been made to the race format.

This weekend’s opening event sees the introduction of two one-hour races instead of the previous 50-minute and two-hour encounters, thus further enticing more iconic machinery to the grid. In addition the class structure has also been altered however that won’t wave from the likes of Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes and more going wheel-to-wheel.

Nostalgia single seater thrills will come in the shape of the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship this weekend with two races scheduled to take place. Harking back to the days when the category was a feeder series to Formula 1, the racing remains the same

Experienced racers such as Stuart Kestnbaum, Mark Armstrong and Rick Morris are amongst the favourites to shine whilst attention will also be paid to former BTCC champion turned presenter Tim Harvey, who is back behind the wheel of a Van Dieman.

It’s a new chapter for the Michelin Clio Cup Series this year too as they introduce the fourth generation car into the newly formed ‘Sport Class’. Having been a haven for tin top thrills down the years, the Clio Cup Series is set to scale new heights with as it looks to the future.

Both the Race and Road Class categories boast bumper grids too, with a new champion set to be crowned in 2019 following Ben Palmer moving onto new pastures. Nic Harrison meanwhile remains the man to beat in the Road Class as he bids to become a three-time title winner.

The Caterham Graduates Championship has become synonymous for close-quarter action down the years and that theme is set to continue this weekend. Four classes will duke it out in amalgamated grids with more than 40 cars confirmed to kick off the season in style.

Jamie Ellwood, Robin Webb, Mark Carter, Ben Winrow and Jon Curry are just a few of the drivers that have flourished in the past and could be potent threats over the course of both days.

Small in stature but never short of entertainment, the 2CV Parts.com Classic Racing Championship is back for another year and with another healthy entry list. Following on from a frenetic 2018 campaign which saw Pete Sparrow clinch the title, the series is back for another year – kicking off the season this weekend before a raft of events between now and August.

Capping off the weekend’s BARC action are a pair of races from the Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Club Championship. Showcasing some of the most iconic machines from the iconic manufacturer, all eras of MG are fielded in this multi-class category, with battles raging throughout the grid.

Jim Baynam, Steve McDermid and Simon Kendrick are just three drivers to look out for as they all bid to kick their campaigns off on the right foot.

Snetterton delivers blockbuster BARC weekend

The British Automobile Racing Club underlined that variety is the spice of life at Snetterton this past weekend (August 18/19) as a raft of categories battled it out around its shorter 1.98 mile circuit.

In what was the third visit to the Norfolk venue in the past month, spectators were treated to all-out action across both days as the 2CV Parts.com Classic Racing Championship took centre stage as it drew its 2018 campaign to a close.

As has become a tradition in recent years, the Liqui Moly 24-hour race provided the footnote to five-event campaign that was with plenty of high-octane drama taking place along the way.

After a full day’s racing, BNLL 1/GT Racing emerged as the victors after completing a mind-boggling 788 laps around the Snetterton 200 circuit. The team of Thierry de Bonhome, Laurent Jossiaux, Rudy Coppieters and Philippe Courtois proved to be in a league of their own as they underlined their domiance, finishing 24 laps ahead of their nearest challengers.

Second place went the way of Bernard Crispin, Claude Crispin, Andre Blaise and Jean-Marc Louys in the BNLL 2 – BMR whilst Team Misfits rounded off the podium with Steve Rideout, Dave Rees, Connor O’Brien and Paul Ogborn all sharing driving duties.

There was to be another twist in the tail of the Junior Saloon Car Championship at the weekend too as Lewis Saunders and Joel Wren shared the spoils.

Despite rolling his car in practice and having to get behind the wheel of a spare, Saunders took a lights-to-flag victory in the opener – despite coming under constant pressure from Ben Kasperczak and Thomas Ward.

In race two, Wren bounced back from narrowly missing out on the podium earlier in the day to score his latest triumph, little under five seconds ahead of Scott McIntyre whilst Saunders made it a day to remember with a third place finish to add to his race one win.

Benn Tilley was at the double in the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship, however he didn’t have things his own way. Having entered the weekend as the form driver, Tilley showcased his front-running credentials to narrowly pip Rick Morris by little under two seconds in the opening encounter.

Things were to get even closer between the pair in race two as Tilley fended off the advances of Morris all the way to line, emerging as the winner by just 0.047. Mark Armstrong and Stuart Kestenbaum each notched a podium finish apiece too.

Ken Lark proved to be a tour-de-force in the Classic VW Cup as he powered his Volkswagen Corrado to a pair of wins. Elsewhere, Steve Sawley and Robert Burkinshaw scored a victory each in the amalgamated BARC Saloon Series and Dream Automotive Honda VTEC Challenge duels.

2CV 24-hour race headlines bumper BARC Snetterton weekend

The 2CV Parts.com Classic Racing Championship will bring the curtain down on its 2018 season at Snetterton this weekend (August 18/19) as it headlines a bumper British Automobile Racing Club event with the now traditional Liqui Moly 24-hour race.

In what is the third visit to the Norfolk venue in four weeks, the BARC is set for a busy weekend with a total of four categories in action around the 2.99 mile layout.

Topping the bill is the 2CV Parts.com Classic Racing Championship which will sign off another year of competition with 33 cars battling it out. Having staged events at Cadwell Park, Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Donington Park, the destiny of the title will decided in what will likely be dramatic fashion – as is usually the case with the series.

Notable names to look out for during the race include points leader Pete Sparrow, Matthew Hollis, Nick Crispin, Tom Perry and double champion Lien Davies; all of whom have shown their class at some stage during the season.

Whilst the 2CV Parts.com Classic Racing Championship will likely take on a starring role, a host of other BARC categories will also write the latest chapter in their campaigns.

Driving the next generation of talent, the Junior Saloon Car Championship is back in action after its mid-season break and it is set to be all to play for.

Leading the way entering rounds nine and ten is Lewis Saunders, who holds a 16-point advantage. Up until last time out at Rockingham Saunders had been the epitome of consistency, but a superlative drive in round eight gave him a breakthrough victory and further strengthened his position at the summit.

Entering this weekend with momentum on his side, Saunders will be one to watch however he has a host of contenders all hot on his heels.

Heading up the chasing pack is Jemma Moore, another driver that has shown that consistency is key in the title race. Steven Chandler, Scott McIntyre and multiple race-winner Joel Wren round out the top five and all of them are not to be discounted.

Winding back the clock to one of the marque eras of single seater racing, the Classic Formula Ford category is arguably as good now as it was back then.

Split into two classes, Class A is open to those competing in cars built between 1st January 1974 and 31st December 1981 whilst Class B is for those competing cars built before 1st January 1974.

Both title battles are building towards their crescendo and there are a host of names to keep a watchful eye over as they tackle the demands of Snetterton.

Ben Tinkler and Benn Tilley shared the spoils at Mallory Park a couple of weeks ago and will have momentum on their side whilst the likes of Jordan Harrison, Mark Yates, Stuart Kestenbaum, Mark Armstrong and Kevin Mansell, amongst a host of others, will also be ones to watch.

In what is its inaugural season, the BARC Saloon Series has continued to go from strength-to-strength as each round has passed, with grids growing in size and that is no different at Snetterton.

Open to all manner of tin top machines, the series has become a focal point for competitors to hone their craft and go racing at an affordable price, with the likes of Ford Fiesta’s, Citroen Saxo’s and more competing.

Sharing the grid with the BARC Saloon Series on countless occasions this year has the been the Dream Automotive Honda VTEC Challenge. Home to a variety of models from the Japanese manufacturer, this series is heaven for those that are fans of all things Honda.

Ben Rushworth, James Tracey and Chris Sparks have been some of the winners from this season already and all three, along with a host of others, will be keen to make their mark here at Snetterton.

Classic Formula Ford and Max5’s star at Mallory Park

Mallory Park played host to a memorable Sunday (August 5) of racing this past weekend as the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship and Max5 Racing Championship continued their 2018 campaigns.

Tackling the twists and turns of the popular Leicestershire-based venue, both championships were in fine form as they took a step closer to deciding their individual champions.

In the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship, two pulsating single-seater races saw spoils shared between two drivers. In race one, Ben Tinkler powered his Van Diemen RF80 to victory ahead of Benn Tilley.

Both Tinkler and Tilley proved to be a in a league of their own in the opening encounter as they diced for the win. In the end, little over half a second separated the pair at the chequered flag with Tinkler coming out on top. Rounding off the podium, albeit five seconds down the road, was Jordan Harrison in his Lola T504E.

Race two from the Classic Formula Ford contingent saw the roles reversed as Tilley this time walked away as the winner. Keeping fans on the edge-of-their-seats, the top three pulled out a substantial advantage early on and began to scrap amongst themselves soon after.

Tilley in the end came away as the victor whilst Tinkler and Mark Yates ensured he had to work for his latest win in the series.

The Max5 Racing Championship had a familiar feel to it as Paul Roddison scored another pair of wins to further strengthen his position as the man to beat in the one-make championship.

Topping the times in both practice and qualifying, Roddison led home two identical races as he beat Jeremy Shipley and Ian Loversidge to the top step of the rostrum in both.

Also on track at Mallory Park was the latest rounds of the Cartek Motorsport Ford Saloon Series where wins went the way of Paul Nevill and Simon Horrobin.
